SWAT Team Responds To Simi Valley Home After 72-Year-Old Reportedly Assaults Nephew

SII VALLEY (CBSLA.com) —  Simi Valley Police Department officers were dispatched to a home around 3:30 p.m. Sunday following reports of violent activity in the home.

A suspect, later identified as 72-year-old Raymond Williams, is accused of assaulting a 50-year-old nephew with a baseball bat. Williams is also accused of pulling a gun on the nephew.

Williams lives in the 2200 block of Latham Street. Police said an altercation between the two men progressed outside the residence.

The 72-year-old man returned to the home. When officers arrived, Williams refused contact with them.

Simi Valley Police SWAT and Crisis Negotiation teams deployed in an attempt to safely make contact with Williams.

Nearby residents were evacuated as a safety precaution and relocated at the police department with the help of the American Red Cross.

Police said the nephew received minor injuries.

Around 9:55 p.m. Sunday Simi Valley Police said Williams was taken into custody without incident. Williams was not injured, police said.
