Police Pursuit Ends In Van Nuys With Suspect Crash, Standoff
VAN NUYS (CBSLA.com) — A pursuit of an armed suspect in Van Nuys Sunday ended with the driver crashing his vehicle and then having a standoff with police.
Officials said the unidentified suspect got into an altercation with someone at a paint store and then left in his vehicle.
The man was reportedly armed so police gave chase. The chase occurred on the 405 and 118 Freeways as well as a dozen surface streets in the Valley.
The suspect crashed into another vehicle at Van Nuys and Valerio, police said. After he crashed, police said he refused to exit his car.
Bystanders were told to stand back.
Officials said after some tense negotiations, the suspect gave himself up.
