Suspect Critically Injured After Being Shot By Police In Montecito Heights
MONTECITO HEIGHTS (CBSLA.com) — Authorities Monday investigated the circumstances surrounding an officer-involved shooting in Montecito Heights.
The shooting took place around 2:30 a.m., located in the 500 block of Wheeling Way, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
Paramedics transported the suspect to a hospital in critical condition. Hospital officials said he is currently undergoing surgery. An update on his condition remains unknown at this time.
According to police, an off-duty officer was involved in the shooting.
A preliminary investigation revealed the officer was "securing his vehicle" when the shooting took place, according to authorities.
The officer was confronted by an armed man at the vehicle. An officer-involved shooting then subsequently occurred.
No officers were injured in the shooting.
Detectives have not said if a weapon was recovered at the scene.
