Man Fatally Injured In Inglewood Motorcycle Crash Identified As Navy Recruiter

INGLEWOOD (CBSLA.com) — A decorated U.S. Navy sailor was fatally injured when his motorcycle collided with a car in Inglewood earlier this week, police said Friday.

Terrance Schmichael Williamson, 36, of Los Angeles, who worked at the Navy recruiting center in Inglewood, crashed into a vehicle at the intersection of Century Boulevard and Second Avenue about 9:20 a.m. Tuesday, Inglewood police traffic investigator Jeff LaGeek said. Williamson was headed west on Century when he collided with the car going south on Second Avenue.

Williamson was thrown off his bike and transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, LaGeek said. The driver of the car stayed at the scene and was not arrested or cited.

According to the Navy, Williamson enlisted in April of 2009. Last ranked as an E-5/Logistics Specialist 2nd Class, Williamson was decorated as an enlisted surface and aviation warfare specialist and had received the Navy/Marine Corps Achievement Medal and Sea Service Deployment Ribbon.

Anyone with information about the crash can call LaGeek at (310) 412-5134 or the 24-hour tipline at (888) 412-7463.
