8-Month-Old Ellie Lim Gets New Heart

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com)  —  On Friday night, CBS2's Kristine Lazar reported about a family's agonizing wait for a heart for their little girl.

Ellie Lim, 8-months-old, has spent half her life in the hospital. Her mother, Melissa, told Lazar she wasn't able to hold her daughter -- suffering from an enlarged heart and in dire need of a transplant -- since August.

Late last night, Melissa texted Lazar to say a heart was found.

Ellie went into surgery Saturday afternoon at UCLA Mattel Children's Hospital.

Melissa told Lazar Saturday evening that Ellie is out of surgery and has opened her eyes and wiggled her hands.
