LA Rock Band Tour Bus Involved In Fatal West Texas Crash

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com/AP) — Two drivers were killed and 10 passengers hurt in a head-on crash in West Texas involving a bus carrying L.A. rock band and a truck.

The Texas Department of Public Safety says the accident occurred on U.S. 62/180 east of El Paso around 9:15 a.m. MST Thursday.

Officials said the private bus, carrying members of Los Angeles-based rock band The Ghost Inside, was traveling westbound when it struck the eastbound truck. Authorities were trying to determine what caused the wreck.

The bus driver, 31-year-old Gregory Hoke of Round Rock, and the semi-truck driver, 64-year-old Steven Cunningham of Las Cruces, New Mexico, were pronounced dead on the scene.

All 10 passengers on the band bus were injured and taken to various hospitals.

The band was scheduled to play the Roxy in West Hollywood on Sunday but cancelled its U.S. tour and was refunding fans for their tickets.

The band has now raised more than $115,000 through a GoFundMe account to cover medical expenses and other damage from the crash.
