Music Mogul Moby Dishes On New Vegan Restaurant In Silver Lake

SILVER LAKE (CBSLA.com) — Music mogul Moby is now a restaurateur.

"I've been a vegan now for 28 years and so this is a vegan restaurant, but it's vegan food that non-vegans would hopefully love," says Moby, who is opening Little Pine in Silver Lake.

The eatery will be serving Mediterranean-inspired food cooked by a meat-loving chef.

"Kristyne, who is my chef, has never worked in a vegan restaurant so she's taking her very traditional, classical, culinary skills and applying them to vegan food," he said.

The restaurant is warm and inviting with cozy decor and has various curiosities for sale like candles, coffee table books and teas.

The restaurant, once open, will operate from 7:30 a.m. to midnight.

"I want it to be effortlessly, like an effortless refuge," he said.

Throughout the space, Moby's nature photography is on display, exhibiting his love of the great outdoors.

"When I first moved to LA, I was talking to a friend of mine in New York and he'd never been to LA. He thought LA was all palm trees and plastic surgery disasters," he said.

"And I said, 'No, there's this whole other side to LA which is like pine trees and state parks and so I guess the name also sort of references that," he explained.

Little Pine opens Thursday.
