Merchandise Manager For Palm Desert Rock Band Killed In Paris Terror Attacks

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — The merchandise manager for a Palm Desert rock band performing in Paris was killed in Friday's terror attacks, CBS Los Angeles has learned.

Nick Alexander, 36,worked for the Eagles of Death Metal, the Palm Desert band that was onstage at Le Bataclan when the venue was attacked.

Band members escaped through a backstage exit, but Alexander was killed inside the concert hall.

His family told reporters: "Nick died doing the job he loved."

JoEllen Hill-Hughes, the mother of band front-man Jesse Hughes, posted a message on her Facebook page stating that her son and the other members of the band were safe.

"Thank you all for your prayers, your love, and all the precious words and I am grateful that my son and his band mates are safe but I sit here and cry, I mourn with the mothers and fathers, their families, of all those that lost loved ones," she said in part.

The band was set to tour Europe through Dec. 10 but planned to cut the tour short and return to Southern California.

According to reports, they were expected to arrive at LAX on Saturday evening.

They're not alone.

Foo Fighters have also ended their European tour, announcing on Facebook: "In light of this senseless violence, the closing of borders, and international mourning, we can't continue right now."

U2 also canceled a Paris concert that was to be broadcast on HBO.

ISIS has claimed responsibility for the coordinated attacks in which 129 people were killed and more than 300 others injured.
