Planes Arriving Into LAX Early In The Morning This Week Will Approach Over Residential Areas Instead Of Ocean

LOS ANGELES INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (CBSLA.com) —  Residents living near Los Angeles International Airport will notice a slight change in overnight air traffic patterns throughout the next week, airport authorities said.

According to Los Angeles World Airports, the military airspace west of LAX will be active for one week for unspecified reasons. Due to that activity, LAX will deviate from its "Over-Ocean Operations" that are typically in effect from midnight to 6:30 a.m.

During those hours, incoming flights to LAX that would normally approach from over the ocean to reduce noise for residents living east of the airport will use the over-land westerly route when approaching the airport, LAWA said.

Outbound flights will continue to take off to the west, over the ocean.

The change in overnight operations will continue through Nov. 12, according to LAWA.
