New App Lets The Shy And Meek Find The 1 That They Seek -- If They Got Away

LOS ANGELES ((CBSLA.com)   —  He catches your eye at the supermarket but -- he doesn't catch your phone number. You see her at the gym and he smiles but before you can strike up a conversation he's gone in a flash. You just struck out.

Have you possibly missed a chance to meet your soulmate? The love of your life? A great month-long fling?

Missed connections can leave a person longing.

But a new app hopes to change all that.

KCAL9's Jennifer Kastner checks out RedPost, the new app that gives hope to the shy and meek.

Producer Kenn Viselman just launched RedPost.

"Instead of just smiling and us having an interaction, and then him leaving and me going 'Why didn't I say hello to him?' I now have a week to go back in time to fix that," says Viselman.

It's kind of like "missed connections" on Craigslist -- where you describe someone you just met ub a chance encounter at the supermarket, the gym, at a red light -- and hope they read it.

Kastner talked to one recent RedPost user who just put up a message about an employee at a restaurant.

"Yesterday you helped me figure out the price of the soup," said the post.

Thomas Seay recently met a guy in West Hollywood --and turned to RedPost to be his virtual wingman.

"I like it a lot," says Seay, "it's amazing."

Both parties have to have the app -- you post some details, maybe a picture and the location.

"I connected the next day. I sent him a message and he sent me one back and he's like 'Ohh I remember you,'" says Seay.

"And anybody that was within a proximity of 50 feet of that space will get a notification in their phone," says Viselman.

So, if you're the shy-type or the timing was just off, all those "what-if" moments and regrets could soon be be a thing of the past.

The app is free to download on iTunes and will be available soon on Android.
