Galaxy's Dos Santos To Be Honored With 'Latinos De Hoy' Award

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Los Angeles Galaxy forward Giovani Dos Santos will be honored at the Latinos de Hoy Awards on Sunday, October 11th.

Dos Santos will be receiving the Excellence in Sports Award for his commitment to the well-being of Latinos throughout the Los Angeles community.

The annual Latinos de Hoy Awards is a bi-cultural event with the goal of honoring those in the Latino community who exemplify leadership, service, and a dedication to setting an example for their peers.

The Awards are hosted by the Los Angeles Times, and is the only event of it's kind honoring Latinos in the U.S.

Previous Latinos de Hoy honorees include Oscar De La Hoya, Ozomatli, Eugenio Derbez, Angelica Maria, Jose Jose, Kate del Castillo, La Santa Cecilia, Paul Rodriguez, and many more.

The Awards ceremony will be held at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood, on Sunday, October 11th.

Hoy is the number one home-delivered Spanish language newspaper in the United States, and combined with the LA Times, the two reach 37% of English-dominant Hispanic adults in Los Angeles.

Dos Santos signed with the Galaxy in July after spending time with Villarreal CF in La Liga.

He helped lead the Mexican national team to a gold medal in the 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup, and has scored four goals for the Galaxy this season.
