LAKE BALBOA (CBSLA.com) — Detectives investigated the circumstances surrounding the stabbing death of a man in Lake Balboa on Tuesday.

Shortly after 1 a.m., officers were sent to Vanowen Avenue and Woodley Street for report of a man stabbed, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Upon their arrival, authorities located a man unconscious and not breathing.

Paramedics transported him to a hospital where he later died.

The victim’s identity is being withheld pending family notification.

A preliminary investigation revealed the man was stabbed in the right chest to his heart, police said.

At this time, no suspect information has been provided.

The motive for the stabbing remains under investigation.
