Suspect Found Dead After Reportedly Crawling Under Tractor Following End Of Police Pursuit On 91 Freeway

ANAHEIM  (CBSLA.com) —   A suspect is reportedly dead following a high-speed chase on the 91 Freeway Thursday evening.

Authorities said a barricade situation developed following  the end of a police pursuit.

Authorities said the suspect, who was driving a stolen car when police first tried to pull him over, shot himself.

At the end of the chase -- near Dale Street and La Palma Avenue in Anaheim  -- police said the suspect exited his vehicle and then ran towards a tractor parked on the 91 Freeway.

The suspect reportedly crawled under the tractor believed to be a Caltrans vehicle.

Stacey Butler, reporting from the scene for KCAL9, was told the suspect fired a shot at police.

Traffic was halted in both directions, at Brookhurst officials said not knowing if the suspect would shoot at passing motorists.

Officers from CHP, Anaheim PD, Fullerton PD and Buena Park PD are assisted, reports Stu Mundel in Sky9.

No officers were injured.

The suspect reportedly stole a 2003 Lexus in Buena Park Thursday evening. Police also said the man drove recklessly, including the wrong way up the 91 Freeway on-ramp.

As of 10:30 p.m., Butler said police had yet to identify the suspect.

The 91 was closed for about an hour frustrating stranded motorists.
