Woman Stabbed By Transient While Skateboarding In Covina

COVINA (CBSLA.com) — A 23-year-old woman remained hospitalized on Monday after she was stabbed by a male transient in Covina.

Shortly before 1 a.m., deputies were sent to Cienega and Bonnie Cove avenues for report of a stabbing, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

Upon their arrival to the Tri Community Adult School, authorities located an adult woman suffering from apparent stab wounds.

Paramedics transported the victim to a hospital in fair condition.

A preliminary investigation revealed the woman had been skateboarding on campus with friends when she was approached by a male transient on a bicycle.

The victim reportedly recognized the man as an old high school acquaintance. When she looked at him, the man began to stab her with a knife.

He then abandoned his bicycle and jumped over a fence.

According to detectives, the suspect has been described as a well-known transient who is in his 20s, stands 5-foot-10 tall, weighs 180 pounds and has short blonde hair.

The investigation is ongoing.
