Pasadena Courthouse Operating On Modified Schedule After Fire, HazMat Situation
PASADENA (CBSLA.com) — Crews were on the scene of a HazMat situation Monday after a fire erupted inside of the Pasadena Courthouse.
Just after 1:30 a.m., firefighters were sent to the 300 block of East Walnut Street for report of a two-alarm fire.
Upon their arrival, authorities quickly extinguished the blaze located at the courthouse.
One firefighter was evaluated for possible injuries.
Officials explained cans of wood varnish that were involved in the fire subsequently prompted a HazMat situation.
According to the Pasadena Fire Department, East Walnut Street remained closed for several hours while authorities investigated.
According to city officials, one area of the third floor of the building will remain closed due to fire damage.
The courthouse reopened at 8:30 a.m.; however, it appears to be operating on a modified schedule.

All in-custody criminal defendant matters have been moved to Departments 117 and 118 on the 11th floor of the Clara Shortridge Foltz Criminal Justice Center at 210 W. Temple Ave.
All detained juvenile deliquency matters have been moved to the Eastlake Courthouse at 1601 Eastlake Ave.
Civil and family law matters, and all other criminal and juvenile delinquency matters will be held in six courtrooms in the older portion of the courthouse.
Officials said reporting jurors will be assisted by court staff members outside of the building.
