3 Men Charged With Murder In Connection With Killing Of Teens In Firebombing At Tire Shop

LOS ANGELES (KNX1070/AP) — Three fugitives have been arrested and charged in connection with a firebombing that killed three people at a tire shop in April.

Prosecutors announced Monday that 20-year-old German Monrreal, 20-year-old Estevan Castillo and 19-year-old Mario Godina were arrested in Mexico and returned to Los Angeles on Sunday.

They're being held without bail. Public defenders haven't been assigned.

A fourth man, Roberto Fuentes, 19, was arrested the day after the fire.

Authorities say a Molotov cocktail was hurled into Cheque Tires in South El Monte, where teens had gathered for a birthday celebration.

The incident killed an 18-year-old mother and two 17-year-old boys, reported Claudia Peschiutta of KNX 1070 NEWSRADIO.

The party, reported Peschiutta, was for one of the victims who was about to turn 18.

Authorities haven't released a motive for the attack.

The four men are charged with murder with special circumstances, but prosecutors haven't decided whether to seek the death penalty.

Reward money was offered in the case for information, which Peschiutta reports played a significant role in the arrests.
