Police Pursuit Comes To An End In Carson

LONG BEACH (CBSLA.com) — Police were in pursuit of a suspect in the area of Long Beach on Wednesday night.

The pursuit originated on surface streets in Long Beach, and there were thought to be two suspects in the pursued vehicle.

The vehicle was traveling at high speeds on northbound Vermont Ave. shortly after 11 p.m., passing over the 110 freeway at 11:06 p.m.

The vehicle had entered and exited the freeway at least twice by the time the pursuit reached Carson.

The original want for the vehicle was said to be reckless driving.

A big rig was forced to swerve when the suspect drove through a red light as the suspect approached the 710 freeway.

A male suspect fled the vehicle at 11:18 p.m. and proceeded to run into a neighborhood. A female ran out of the vehicle seconds after the male suspect. After running, and then walking, over a block, the female was taken into custody.

Officers located the male suspect at 11:23 p.m. atop a roof in an alleyway about two blocks from where the vehicle had come to a stop, at Delta and Gardner. The alley was located parallel to the nearby 91 freeway.

Officers had weapons drawn, and the suspect complied, jumping to the ground. He was then taken into custody.
