3-Month-Old Boy In Grave Condition After Allegedly Being Assaulted By Father
SANTA ANA (CBSLA.com) — Authorities have arrested the father of a 3-month-old baby for assault.
Officials said the baby -- a boy -- is on life support and is not expected to recover.
Santa Ana Police Officers were dispatched to the 800 block of W. Stevens Friday around 8:45 p.m. following a report of a baby not breathing.
Officer and Orange County Fire Authority personnel performed CPR on the child and transported the infant to Children's Hospital of Orange County in critical condition.
CHOC medical staff alerted authorities about signs of trauma on the boy's body.
The infant's father Jordan Mendez, 20, was interviewed by detectives and subsequently arrested.
Mendez, a Santa Ana resident, was booked at the Santa Ana Jail and charged with great bodily injury/death. His bail is set at $1 million,
