TARZANA (CBSLA.com) — Police Wednesday investigated the circumstances surrounding a home invasion robbery that took place at Singer Chris Brown’s home in Tarzana.
Shortly after 2 a.m., officers were sent to the 19600 block of Citrus Ridge Drive near Corbin Avenue for report of a robbery that had just occurred, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
Upon their arrival, police located Brown’s aunt inside of the home.
A preliminary investigation revealed she was alone at the time, and heard a commotion in the frond yard of the home. When she opened the front door, three armed men barged inside.
The suspects proceeded to lock Brown’s aunt inside of a closet while they ransacked the home.
“There was one person inside of the house, a relative of Mr. Brown’s,” said Lt. Kirk Kelley. “No one was injured during the course of the robbery.”
The suspects fled with cash among other items before police arrived to the scene.
Brown was not at home when the incident occurred. However, he was seen driving away from the residence after returning to speak with investigators early this morning.
According to city officials, Brown moved into the home in May.
“It has security cameras, it is a recently built home,” said Kelley. “The home has not been fully completed at this time.”
Detectives described the suspects as African American men who wore handkerchiefs over their faces. The suspects were armed with handguns.
Police explained robbery homicide is now investigating due to the incident being a high profile case.
