Pomona Man Suspected Of Burglarizing Condo; 2 Suspects At Large

IRVINE (CBSLA.com) — Police sought the public's help Monday to locate two men suspected of burglarizing a residence in Irvine.

On Friday afternoon, several suspects were seen moving back and forth between a condominium and an idling vehicle located in the fire lane on Tall Oak, according to the Irvine Police Department.

Several witnesses provided police with suspect descriptions for three men and their vehicle after the men fled from the area.

Upon their arrival, officers discovered the front door of a residence had been pried open and the contents of the home had been ransacked.

A large amount of U.S. currency, Japanese currency and a designer handbag were stolen.

A preliminary investigation was then conducted on the rental car that was driven by the suspects.

According to police, David McNeal, 41, of Pomona, was arrested when he returned the vehicle to a rental car agency in the City of Pomona.

Officers recovered U.S., Japanese and Iraqi currency at the time of McNeal's arrest.

A search warrant served on his home revealed additional foreign currency, Rolex watches, nine rifles and two handguns, police said.

Further evidence confirmed two of the handguns were stolen in previous residential burglaries in Los Angeles, detectives said.

McNeal was booked into the Orange County Jail on felony charges of residential burglary and grand theft, police said.

The investigation is ongoing as police search for the other two men also suspected in the incident.

Detectives described the first suspect as an African American man who is between the ages of 55 and 60-years-old, stands 5-foot-10 tall and is heavyset. He was last seen wearing dark clothing, and walks with an unusual gate while using a cane.

The second suspect was described as an African American man who is between the ages of 30 and 35-years-old. He was last seen wearing a dark hat with dark saggy jeans.

Anyone with information regarding the incident or the two outstanding suspects is urged to contact the Irvine Police Department at (949) 724-7276.
