Simi Valley Woman Found At Bottom Of Malibu Ravine Released From Hospital

MALIBU (CBSLA.com) — A Simi Valley woman found inside her crashed SUV about 50 feet down the side of a Malibu ravine is home Thursday after being treated for moderate injuries at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, a hospital spokeswoman said.

Jenifer Duron, 40, was released from the hospital Wednesday night and thanked everyone for their concern and good wishes, UCLA spokeswoman Amy Albin said.

"The family asks for their privacy," Albin said. "No additional information is available and no interviews will be granted."

Duron had been reported missing after she was last seen leaving her home Monday morning for a run on a Malibu beach. Wednesday morning, jogger Lisa McClelland caught a glimpse of the SUV down a hillside at Pacific Coast Highway and Latigo Canyon Road and heard a woman's weak call for help. McClelland had her husband stay at the site and she hitched a ride back home so she could call 911.

Michael Daruty, Duron's father, said his daughter's first words to him were, "I didn't think anybody was going to find me."

Duron, who had been stranded in her SUV for two days, was carried up the hillside in a rescue basket and later airlifted to Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center for moderate injuries.

Investigators say there were no signs that Duron was distracted or impaired prior to the accident.
