Search Continues For Gas Station Assault Suspect In Seal Beach

SEAL BEACH (CBSLA.com) — Authorities Tuesday continued to search for a suspect who assaulted a 26-year-old man with a tire iron at a gas station in Seal Beach.

Around 10:12 p.m. on Sunday, police were sent to a Mobil Gas Station, located in the 12200 block of Seal Beach Boulevard, for report of an aggravated assault with a tire iron, according to the Seal Beach Police Department.

A preliminary investigation revealed the suspect struck a Cypress man from behind with a tire iron for unknown reasons while the victim filled up his gas tank.

Police said the victim sustained a large laceration to his head during the incident. He was transported to a hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

At this time, the incident is being investigated as a random act of violence.

According to city officials, the suspect was last seen running southbound on Seal Beach Boulevard towards an unknown destination.

Detectives described the suspect as a Hispanic adult man who has a thin build, dark complexion, is clean shaven, and stands 5-foot-11 tall. He was last seen wearing black tennis shoes with white knee high socks, long khaki shorts, a black tank top, and a black on white baseball hat.

Officers have not located or identified a suspect in connection to the crime.
