Man Moving His Car Fatally Shot In Long Beach

LONG BEACH (CBSLA.com) — A man was fatally shot Monday in Long Beach, and police have detained several people in connection with the shooting.

Police were called out to the 800 block of Cedar Avenue at about 9 a.m. and a man was declared dead at the scene, Long Beach police spokeswoman Marlene Arrona said.

Family members identified the victim as 35-year-old Douglas Muhammad Wilson. They say he was moving his car when he was shot.

One witness says there were so many shots, the entire clip must have been unloaded.

Wilson worked at Ralphs for 17 years as a produce manager and was a faithful Muslim who didn't have so much as a tattoo, according to his family.

Streets were shut down from Pacific to Magnolia and 8th to 10th Street for the investigation, police said.

Anyone with information about the shooting can call Long Beach Police Department dispatchers at (562) 435-6711.
