Ventura Psychiatric Hospital Worker Accused Of Sexually Assaulting 2 More Patients

VENTURA (CBSLA.com) — A psychiatric hospital worker accused of raping an institutionalized patient is believed to have sexually assaulted more victims while working at a Ventura hospital.

Juan Pablo Valencia, 37, was arrested Thursday in the 600 block of County Square Drive in Ventura and booked on several sex charges, including sexual battery of an institutionalized victim and rape of an intoxicated person, Ventura police officials said.

Valencia was first arrested in January following a report in October of last year. A former Vista Del Mar Hospital patient reported to police that while she was confined to the hospital for psychiatric reasons, Valencia pursued her sexually while she was institutionalized and then continued a sexual relationship with her immediately following her release, officials said.

Ventura police detectives in February identified two more victims who reported Valencia sexually assaulted them while they were being treated for psychiatric reasons at Vista Del Mar Hospital, officials said. Following Thursday's arrest, Valencia was booked on five sex-related charges, including sexual battery of an institutionalized victim and rape of an intoxicated person.

Police say the investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information or who believes they are also a victims can call Detective Edwards of the Ventura Police Department at (805) 339-4328.
