2 Injured In Downey House Fire

DOWNEY (CBSLA.com) — Two people suffered minor injuries Friday in a house fire in Downey.

The fire was reported just after 3 a.m. at a single-family home in the 9600 block of Telegraph Road.

A man and a woman in their 40s were inside when the flames broke out.

The man attempted to diminish the fire by bringing a garden hose through the front door.

Both suffered minor injuries. The woman was transported to a local hospital with smoke inhalation.

Firefighters were able to contain the flames to the front part of the home, but the entire residence was heavily damaged.

"It will be red-tagged," Batt. Chief Dan Hurlock said.

The cause was under investigation.
