New Neighborhood Market Chain Popping Up Quickly Throughout Southern California
BURBANK (CBSLA.com) — A grocery store chain that started in the Pacific Northwest is looking to conquer Southern California with the opening of more than a dozen new stores through June.
Haggen opened its newest neighborhood market in Burbank Thursday, at a site that was an Albertsons supermarket just 48 hours prior.
The chain of markets, which specializes in organic produce and everyday essentials, are set to open new stores in Santa Clarita, Santa Monica, San Pedro, Woodland Hills, and Lomita just this week.
"The organics, the natural foods, homemade items in the deli, fresh baked in the deli. I mean, you walk around this store, you want to grab a shopping cart and fill it up," Haggen employee Nicky Graham said.
A total of 83 new Haggen stores will open this year throughout Southern California. Haggen's store opening locations and schedule through June is:
