Man Beaten By Deputies On Video Has New Run-In With Police

SAN BERNARDINO (AP) — A San Bernardino man whose videotaped chase on a horse and subsequent beating by deputies resulted in a $650,000 settlement had a run-in with police a day after the deal was made.

San Bernardino police Lt. Rich Lawhead said Friday that an an off-duty correctional officer called the department on Wednesday to say a man was walking through backyards in the neighborhood. The officer said he told Francis Pusok to leave and Pusok replied with curses.

Police responded and talked to Pusok. They took a report, but there was no citation or arrest.

On Tuesday, San Bernardino County supervisors approved the settlement with Pusok to avoid a lawsuit over the beating that brought national attention and led to the suspension of 10 deputies.

Pusok and his attorney did not respond to several messages left by the San Bernardino Sun.
