'Suspicious Vehicle' Disrupts Metro Green Line Service Near LAX

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Service along the Metro Green Line was disrupted Wednesday morning due to a "suspicious vehicle" parked at a station near LAX, authorities said.

An unoccupied white van was reportedly seen at 8:10 a.m. in the parking lot of the Aviation/LAX Green Line station near Aviation Boulevard and 115th Street in the Westchester area, according to a Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department spokesman.

Deputies were called in after a Metro customer passed by and saw something unusual inside, CBS2/KCAL9's Jeff Nguyen reported.

Traffic was diverted away from the area, and a section of the Century (105) Freeway was closed for more than an hour.

Authorities set up a "bus bridge" to ferry Green Line rail passengers around the area, according to Metro.

A Sheriff's bomb squad used a robot to examine the vehicle and found a large container with liquids, clear hoses and wires that were unexplained, Nguyen reported.

The scene was declared safe around 9:45 a.m., officials said.

Traffic lanes along the 105 Freeway and closed surface streets reopened shortly afterward. Green Line light rail service also resumed after being suspended in the area.
