Man Shot, Killed In Santa Fe Springs

SANTA FE SPRINGS (CBSLA.com) — Authorities say a man was fatally shot while walking along a street in Santa Fe Springs.

The incident happened shortly before 7 p.m. Wednesday in the 9900 block of Painter Avenue.

Police in Whittier said the man was walking along the street when he was confronted by a person who got out of a small silver car that had driven up.

Police said a physical fight ensued, and the suspect returned to the vehicle, pulled out a gun and fired.

Police said the suspect got back inside the car, which left in an unknown direction on Painter Avenue.

The identity of the victim has not been released.

The Whittier Police Department is investigating.
