Bus Driver Injured In Echo Park Shooting

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com)  —   An MTA bus driver was reportedly injured Sunday afternoon in Echo Park during a shooting.

The incident occurred at N. Coronado and Bellevue Avenue, near London, around 2:50 p.m.

The driver of Metro Bus #3120 suffered minor injuries, officials said.

CBS2's Brittney Hopper said the driver's left temple was grazed by the bullet but is expected to be okay.

The driver was transported to LA County USC Medical Center.

No passengers were injured. There were about 30 passengers on the bus at the time of the shooting.

Officials said that the driver was unaware he was injured until passengers pointed it out.

Passengers told Hopper that they heard gunshots and then saw the driver bleeding.

"He was okay, he was able to walk," says , "he was able to stand up, he was speaking. He was just really confused. I'm assuming, he was scared like all of us."

Hopper said deputies set up a perimeter in search of a gunman.

Around 6:30 p.m., Hopper reported an arrest has been made about an hour earlier.

Authorities said they had arrested a 24-year-old Latino but gave no further information.
