Police Seek Owner Of Tegu Lizard Found In Yard Of Fontana Home
FONTANA (CBSLA.com) — Police sought the public's help Monday to locate the owner of a Tegu lizard that was found in the front yard of a residence in Fontana.
On Sunday afternoon, Fontana Police Department officers received report from a resident living in the 18000 block of Granada regarding a lizard that appeared in their front yard.
Animal services officers were sent to the home, and explained they found the lizard that was docile in nature.
"It is not illegal to own one of these exotic lizards, with powerful claws, that are from Argentina," said Public Information Officer Guzman-Hurtado.
They transported it to the Western Riverside Animal Shelter, but it will not be put up for adoption.
Police posted a photo of the lizard to their twitter page, in hope of locating it's owner.

If the rightful owner does not come forward to claim the lizard, the shelter plans to hand the animal over to a group that specializes in reptiles.
