Nonprofit Arts School For Students With Disabilities Burglarized Twice In Same Week

LONG BEACH (CBSLA.com) — An arts school in Long Beach that offers services for students with developmental and intellectual disabilities was burglarized twice in the same week.

The burglaries at Arts & Services for Disabled, Inc., a nonprofit, occurred last week.

As KCAL9's Kristine Lazar reports, the first burglary occurred early Friday morning.

"They threw an iron chair threw this glass," Helen Dolas, CEO, Arts & Services, Inc., said. "The laptops were gone that we had. Three laptops, several iPads, and we had a donation jar of over $300 that was also taken."

Lazar said the school was burglarized a second time the following day and a flat-screen television was taken and has sustained losses of about $12,000.

"This has got to stop. It's just like having the bully that continues to push you on the shoulder over and over again," Dolas said.

Police said the burglaries remain under investigation.

A GoFundMe page has been established to help assist the school with costs. Click here for more information.
