LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — An original post on Tumblr that posed a question about the color of a dress garnered 73 million page views, according to staff members from the social networking website.

An official feed from the people behind Tumblr reports that last week's post by the user "swiked" drew in approximately 140,000 page views per minute between 10:30 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. Thursday.
The website went on to say by the end of Friday night, "swiked" had received tons of fan mail and asks.

The dress took the Internet world by storm with response after response appearing on Twitter, Facebook and other websites Thursday, all answering a single question: What color is this dress?
The dress also generated responses from celebrities, including Taylor Swift, Amy Purdy, Maria Menounos, Kyle Richards and Anna Kendrick, among others.
Some experts also weighed in on the conundrum of why some saw white and gold while others saw other variations with at least one sharing that the way in which images are processed varies from person to person.
