Long Beach State Cruises Against Cal State-Fullerton, 70-47

LONG BEACH, Calif. (AP) -- Travis Hammonds scored 16 points on 6 of 11 shooting to help lead Long Beach State to a 70-47 win over Cal State-Fullerton on Saturday.

Mike Caffey finished with 13 points and David Samuels added 12 points and 10 rebounds for the 49ers (14-16, 8-6 Big West), which snapped a five game losing streak, its longest such streak in conference play since 2007-08.

The 49ers held Fullerton to 32.6 percent shooting from the field, including just 2-14 from 3-point range, and finished plus-nine in the rebounding battle. Overall Long Beach State is 8-1 this season when holding opponents below 60 points.

The 49ers led 43-27 at the half and extended their lead past 20 on a Branford Jones layup early in the second half.

Kennedy Esume led the Titans with nine points (9-20, 1-13). They have lost five consecutive on the road against Long Beach State.
