UC Irvine Rolls To 77-55 Win Over UC Santa Barbara

   IRVINE, Calif. (AP) -- Alex Young and Luke Nelson each scored 11 points and 11 Anteaters scored as UC Irvine routed UC Santa Barbara, 77-55, to win its sixth straight Saturday night.

UC Irvine (13-8, 6-1 Big West) now has won 33 of its past 40 games in the Bren Events Center and has won 146 of its 200 games there since February 2000.

The Anteaters shot 50.9 percent from the field (27 for 53) and just as well from deep (11 of 22) and the free throw line (12-13).

Irvine won the rebounding battle, pulling down 37 boards -- nine more than the Gauchos.

The Anteaters maintain a share of first-place in the Big West with Long Beach State, which knocked off Hawaii 65-50, and UC Davis, which survived against Cal Poly in overtime, 81-78.

Santa Barbara (10-11, 3-4) got 12 points from John Green, while Sam Beeler and Gabe Vincent added 11 and 10 points, respectively.
