Woman Arrested On Suspicion Of DUI In Oxnard Chain Reaction Vehicle Collision

OXNARD (CBSLA.com) — A 23-year-old woman was arrested Sunday on suspicion of driving under the influence after crashing her vehicle into an SUV.

According to the Oxnard Police Department, officers were sent around 1:00 a.m. to the intersection of Vineyard Avenue and Heather Street for report of an injury traffic collision.

A preliminary investigation revealed a silver 1979 Jeep Cherokee, driven by Darrah Caprarelli, of Oxnard, traveled westbound on Vineyard Avenue and rear-ended a parked sport utility vehicle.

Officers explained the collision caused the SUV to crash into two other vehicles that were parked along the shoulder.

All of the vehicles sustained extensive damage in the crash, authorities reported.

Caprarelli was treated at the scene for minor injuries sustained in the collision. She was arrested on suspicion of DUI, as her blood alcohol level was found to be over three times the legal limit.

Police explained Caprarelli was also driving with a suspended driver's license, which stemmed from a previous DUI conviction.

She is currently being held at the Ventura County Jail.

No other injuries were reported.

Anyone with information about this collision is urged to contact police at (805) 385-7749.
