Moorpark Man Allegedly Sets Wife On Fire

MOORPARK (CBSLA.com) — A 29-year-old Ventura County woman was doused with gasoline and set on fire early Monday morning, authorities said.

Fire officials received a call from the woman just before 4 a.m. stating her husband was trying to light her on fire in the 11800 block of Broadway Road in Moorpark, according to the Ventura County Sheriff's Office.

When authorities arrived on scene, they discovered the victim badly burned and a portion of the home in flames. The fire was quickly extinguished, officials said.

She was transported to a local hospital with significant burn injuries to her body.

Her husband, identified as 31-year-old Juan Soria Hernandez, fled the scene and is wanted for attempted murder.

"He is about 5 feet 7 inches, 200 pounds, Hispanic male with some facial hair," Capt. Don Aguilar said.

Officials believe Hernandez is driving a white 2005 Ford F-250 truck with California license plates 86644S1.
