Costa Mesa Man Accused Of Selling Invalid Disneyland Tickets In Custody

COSTA MESA (CBSLA.com) — A 26-year-old man was in custody on Friday for his alleged involvement in a fraudulent ticket sale scam.

According to the Costa Mesa Police Department, Jonathan Olsen was arrested around 11:15 a.m. at his home on Tuesday morning for selling invalid Disneyland tickets on social media.

In December 2014, a 22-year-old female Tustin resident reported she responded to a Craigslist advertisement that Olsen had posted, which offered two Disneyland tickets for $160.

Officers explained the victim and Olsen arranged through text messaging to meet on Dec. 6, 2014, at a restaurant near Fairview Boulevard and Baker Street.

According to authorities, the victim purchased both tickets from Olsen, and proceeded to take a photo of his license before leaving the area.

Two days later, the victim learned from officials at Disneyland that the tickets were invalid. Officers said she then reported the apparent theft.

Detectives reported they confiscated drug paraphernalia and additional invalid Disneyland tickets from Olsen's home.

According to police, Olsen explained he had originally stolen the invalid tickets from a store before he sold them on Craigslist.

He was booked for petty theft, and possession of drug paraphernalia charges, in addition to a probation hold, at the Costa Mesa Police Department before he was sent to the Orange County Jail in Santa Ana.

Anyone who has been similarly victimized by Olsen is urged to contact police at (714) 754-5637.
