Hypothermia Feared Amid Dropping Temperatures Near Rose Parade Route
PASADENA (CBSLA.com) — Below-average temperatures across the Southland are raising concerns of weather-related illnesses ahead of the 2015 Rose Parade.
Lisa Derderian, a spokeswoman for the Pasadena Fire Department, says there will be an increased presence along the parade route as officials are concerned of hypothermia and other weather-related issues.
"We're worried about weather-related illnesses, hypothermia, so we will have an increased presence on the parade route," Derderian said.

They say those experiencing any type of weather-related illness are urged to call 911 immediately.
The anticipated near-record-low temperatures for Pasadena on New Year's Day also have officials worried about warming fires near the route started by campers before the big parade.
Meantime, the low temperatures have caught many off guard, like Cameron Dishman, who traveled from Arizona.

"Just not used to it, so I gotta buy a couple more jackets or something," Dishman said.
But for Mary Fitzesimons, visiting from upstate New York: "Today is about 50, so it's about 30 degrees warmer from what I'm used to."
The impending storm is expected to move into Southern California on Tuesday, bringing rain early in the day. Snow could fall as low as the 2,000-foot level by nightfall and into Wednesday morning, according to the Associated Press.
