Homicide Investigation Continues In Compton; Suspect Remains At Large

COMPTON (CBSLA.com) — Detectives continued their investigation Friday into the circumstances surrounding the shooting death of a woman in Compton last night.

According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, deputies were sent to a residence around 7:32 p.m. Thursday located in the 1400 block of West 154th Street for report of an assault with a deadly weapon.

Once on scene, they located a black female victim who suffered from a fatal gunshot to the upper torso. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

A preliminary investigation revealed the gunshot originated from an unknown location outside of the residence, deputies explained.

The victim's identity is being withheld pending family notification.

The motive for the shooting remains unknown.

No suspect description has been provided at this time.
