Man's Body Found On Beach In Marina Del Rey

MARINA DEL REY (CBSLA.com) — Homicide detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a man whose body was found on the beach in Marina del Rey.

Deputies say a passerby noticed the body Monday before 2 p.m. in the 5000 block of Ocean Front Walk and Topsail Street and attempted to assist the man.

Paramedics were called and pronounced the unidentified man dead at the scene.

"It appears to be a drowning just on a cursory examination but we won't know the exact cause of death until a coroner has done a medical examination," said Lt. Steve Jauch of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

KCAL9's Brittney Hopper reports that an inflatable boat was found near the body although it's not known if the boat belongs to the man.

The identity of the deceased has not been released.

Anyone with more information about this incident was asked to contact the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department immediately.
