LA Vet Clinic Launches Premium Dog Walking Service

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A Los Angeles veterinary clinic announced on Sunday the launch of their premium dog walking service.

The Century Veterinary Group offers services for both boarding and non-boarding dogs seven days per week from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

"What's Upp Dawg" offers walks ranging in length from 30 minutes to 90 minutes, including hikes, trips to the dog park, or evening walks for a higher rate.

Pricing for the services are based off the length of the walk and the number of dogs scheduled.

According to veterinarians, daily walks are important for dog's mental and physical health. They recommend at least one hour of exercise each day.

"Even if dogs have a yard to play in, they still need a daily walk for exercise and stimulation," said Los Angeles veterinarian Dr. Jeff Werber. "Walking satisfies a primal canine need. Dogs that do not receive daily walks are more like to have behavioral problems and also suffer from anxiety and depression. Walking keeps dogs mentally and physically fit."

Werber explained nearly half of all dogs are overweight, and that walking also gives them the opportunity to learn good manners and improve their behavior.

"Depending on the breed, a daily walk of at least 20 minutes is critical to maintaining a healthy weight," said Dr. Werber. "Just like with humans, regular exercise can also help dogs shed extra pounds."

Membership discounts are available for a one-time fee of $25, which will reduce the cost of each scheduled walk.
