Dodgers Welcome 2B Howie Kendrick

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com/AP) -- As a baseball fan, Howie Kendrick is impressed and intrigued by the Los Angeles Dodgers' offseason overhaul.

As the Dodgers' new second baseman, Kendrick is grateful he only has to drive a few more miles up the freeway to be a part of it all.

"Great organization, said Kendrick.  "I played this organization for a long time and its definitely feel great to be part of this and part of the history. Hopefully we can make some history oursevles."

The club welcomed Kendrick to Dodger Stadium on Friday, putting a blue cap on the longtime Angels infielder. Kendrick is just one part of a makeover for the Dodgers under new top executive Andrew Friedman.

"This organization speaks for itself, added Kendrick. "What the Dodgers have been doing in the last 3-4 years have been great by signing big pieces. They go after it. I definitely know there are a lot of guys that play hard and want to win."

Los Angeles has parted ways with Matt Kemp, Dee Gordon, Hanley Ramirez, Dan Haren and Brian Wilson, and the Dodgers have acquired Kendrick, Jimmy Rollins, Yasmani Grandal and Brandon McCarthy in their place.

Kendrick is eager to get to work with Rollins as the Dodgers' new double-play combination.
