Dodgers Wheel And Deal: Dee Gordon Out; Kendrick, Rollins, Prospects In

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) —   The Los Angeles Dodgers sent the league's top base stealer packing Wednesday and acquired star infielders from the Phillies and Angels and several well-regarded prospects from the Marlins.

In the first trade, the Dodgers sent base stealer Dee Gordon, pitcher Dan Haren, Miguel Rojas and a player to be named later/or cash to the Marlins.

The Marlins, in turn,  sent the Dodgers infielder/outfielder Enrique "Kike" Hernandez, catcher Austin Barnes and right-handed reliever Chris Hatcher.

The Dodgers also acquired promising lefty pitcher Andrew Heaney.

Don't order the Heaney jersey. Within hours, the Dodgers sent Heaney to the Angels for second baseman Howie Kendrick.

Earlier in the day, the Dodgers agreed to send two minor league pitchers to the rebuilding Philadelphia Phillies for veteran shortstop Jimmy Rollins.

Gordon led the National League in stolen bases (64) and triples (12) in 2014. He was also elected to his first-ever All-Star game.

Kendrick also provides a solid bat. He batted .293 in 157 games with the Angels last year.

The new Dodgers second baseman also had a career year in 2014 in hits (181), RBI (75) and walks (48

Haren went 13-11 with a 4.02 ERA in 32 starts in 2014. He hinted that he would retire if the Dodgers traded him to any team other than the Angels. A Monterey Park native Haren has pitched for with Cardinals, A's, D-backs, Angels, and Nationals.

The Miami Herald is reporting the Dodgers agreed to pick up Haren's $10 million option in order for him to accept the move to Florida.

Late Wednesday, the Dodgers were said to be nearing a four-year, $48 million deal with 6'7" free-agent pitcher Brandon McCarthy who pitched for the NY Yankees in 2014.
