Driver Needs To Be Extricated From Crashed Car After Falling Asleep At Wheel

DIAMOND BAR (CBSLA.com) —  Authorities said a who fell asleep while driving, crashed his vehicle and had to be extricated early Sunday.

The driver crashed onto a golf course in Diamond Bar where the 57 and 60 Freeways merge just before 4:30 a.m., officials said.

The unidentified driver was trapped until he was discovered by groundskeepers.

"The driver of the vehicle fell asleep, veered off the roadway and rolled over," said California Highway Patrol Officer Monica Posada.

"His foot got trapped and he couldn't get out of his car. By the time the CHP got the call it was 5:13 a.m.," she said.

The driver was extricated from the vehicle and was taken to a hospital for a possible leg injury.
