Garden Grove Home Invasion Suspect Fatally Shot By Officers After Allegedly Stabbing Resident

GARDEN GROVE (CBSLA.com) — A male victim remained hospitalized in stable condition Saturday after being stabbed by an alleged home invasion suspect.

According to the Garden Grove Police Department, officers were sent just after 8:00 a.m. to the 9900 block of Aldgate Avenue after residents alerted police of an attempted burglary in progress.

According to police, officers entered the residence shortly after the stabbing occurred and confronted the suspect. An officer involved shooting ensued.

A preliminary investigation revealed that a male suspect tried to force his way into the rear entrance of the victim's home after stating he was being chased, officers explained.

Once inside, the suspect allegedly armed himself with a knife and threatened to kill a female resident.

A male resident proceeded to arm himself with a shotgun in defense, however. The suspect allegedly stabbed the male victim in the arm.

The suspect was transported to UCI Medical Center where he later died from injuries sustained in the shooting.

His identity is being withheld pending family notification.

The male victim was transported to Garden Grove Medical Center, where he is being treated for his stab wound.

No officers were injured.
