Josh Rubenstein's Weather Forecast (Oct. 30)

STUDIO CITY (CBSLA.com) — Gear up for the first storm of our "rainy season" — the KCAL/KCBS weather department is excited!

Thursday will be a transition day as temperatures drop down a bit and more clouds roll into the region. By Friday morning, a strong on-shore flow will kick up a healthy marine layer, and we could even see a little drizzle squeezed out from it.

Things will get interesting into the evening. Rain will develop along the Central Coast of California through the day, so San Luis Obispo County and the North Coast of Santa Barbara County will probably be raining through Halloween.

For Los Angeles, the rain will probably hold off until the later hours. It looks like, aside from some spotty drizzle, it should be dry through 9 p.m. However, after midnight the rain kicks in.

Expect .10 to .25 inches with some heavy pockets of rain mixed in. This rain will fall mostly while everyone is sleeping, however if you are planning to be out late at a party, be careful on your drive home.

Most of the rain will end shortly after sunrise. The San Gabriel Valley and adjacent foothills will be an exception — the rain could linger through the day there with the right amount of lift in the atmosphere.

It will be cool through the weekend, but by the middle of next week it will be hot once again with 90 degree readings for the valleys.

Snow levels will start at 7,000 feet and dip to 6,000 feet with only a light dusting sticking to the ground. There are no advisories and as far as storms go this isn't really a big deal, however when you consider how dry it has been a small amount of rain will feel like a lot.
