SB 5 Fwy Reopens In Boyle Heights After Multi-Vehicle Crash Involving Big Rig

BOYLE HEIGHTS (CBSLA.com) — A big rig carrying molasses was involved in a multi-vehicle accident Wednesday morning causing major delays on the southbound Golden State (5) Freeway in Boyle Heights.

The accident took place around 5:50 a.m. on the transition road from the 5 Freeway to the westbound Santa Monica (10) Freeway, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Seven people were injured — three were in critical condition and two in minor — in the crash that involved at least four vehicles, including a second truck that overturned.

The transition road was closed during the clean and all lanes were reopened just after 10:30 a.m., the CHP said.
