Help Needed To Capture Robbers Who Tied Up OC Recording Studio Workers

SANTA ANA (CBSLA.com) — Police asked for the public's help Wednesday in identifying a vehicle believed to have been used in a takeover-style robbery at a music recording studio.

The robbery happened at about 10:18 p.m. on Oct. 7, when three men entered the OC Recording Company recording studio, 3100 W. Warner Ave., claiming they wanted to record an album, Santa Ana police Cpl. Anthony Bertagna.

When the owner of the business told them he was not aware of an appointment at that time and asked them to wait outside, they pulled out handguns then tied up the owner and an employee, Bertagna said.

The owner and employee cooperated as the suspects questioned them about the value of their studio equipment and location of a safe, according to Bertagna. The robbers got away with several pieces of high-end studio equipment, such as microphones, guitars and computer equipment.

The three suspects were described as black men. Two of the suspects are in their late teens to early 20s, between 5-foot-7 and 5-foot-20 and 150 to 160 pounds and both were armed with silver and black semi-automatic handguns. The third suspect was described as being in his mid to late 20s, between 5-foot-8 and 5-foot-10, 150 to 170 pounds and carrying a black semi-automatic handgun.

A neighboring business' surveillance camera captured an image of the getaway vehicle, Bertagna said.

Anyone with more information about the crime can call robbery Detective Art Castorena at (714) 245-8422.
