'Run, Walk, Adopt' At LA's Race For The Rescues With Host Seamus Dever

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Actor Seamus Dever stopped by KCAL9 Sunday morning to share details about his latest role - as co-host of next weekend's Race for the Rescues.

Participants are invited to "run, walk and adopt" at the event, scheduled to kick off at the Rose Bowl the morning of October 18.

The day includes a 5k, 10k, 1k Dog Walk, with proceeds benefiting local non-profit 501(c)3, no-kill, animal welfare organizations.

"It's a great event. It's a lot of fun," Dever said. "Bring your dog and walk. It's sort of fun because all the dogs walk together so it's like a huge dog walk."

Race For The Rescues will also feature a pet adoption event, raffles, food trucks, non-competitive kids' races and other prizes.

"It's a great place for dog owners... [and] for people who are curious about adopting a rescue," Dever said.

Organizers at The Rescue Train are also holding a race at Oak Canyon Park in Orange County November 16.

The Orange County Race will be hosted by Animal Expert/Trainer and star of Emmy-nominated CBS show "Lucky Dog," Brandon McMillan.

Race for the Rescues began nine years ago. The organization says it has raised over $1.7 million to "help save the lives of thousands of homeless animals in Los Angeles and Orange County, California," according to its website.
